Treatment Update

We wish to thank everyone for your kindness towards Mark in his battle with Stage 4 cancer. A substantial amount of funding received so far has been used to get him to where he is. Up to recently, his disease has been fairly stable and controlled by the DCT, chemotherapy and Nanoknife ablation.
Unfortunately, an MRI scan taken earlier this year showed progression with growth of a number of tumours in Mark’s liver and we had had to act quickly. He travelled to London again in April 2021 for more Nanokife treatment in a bid to prevent further growth or spread of the cancer. Routine ablation treatments provided in Ireland are not suitable due to the location of the tumours.

There has been no other treatment offered to him in Ireland. We are so very grateful for the enormous generosity of everyone who has donated to this fund enabling Mark to avail of the Nanoknife treatment. We are continuing to strive for any other treatments that could help Mark achieve remission or even cure.

While Mark can still fight (he has a lot of ‘fight’ left) we need to hit this disease even more with whatever we can. We investigated the option of treatment in The Berkeley Institute in California in the USA. Due to Covid travel restrictions and the extortionate cost of healthcare in the US, Mark has travelled to Mexico to attend their International Centre in Ensenada.

Mark has received his first treatment cycle of SEF Chemo-Immunotherapy at the Berkeley Institute in August 2021. He will require multiple treatments and regular monitoring via scans and blood tests and will have to live in Mexico for an extended period. Doctors cannot predict his response until at least 3-4 treatment cycles have been completed but for now, we are hopeful and praying for a positive outcome. We will continue to update in the coming weeks.

Every donation has a huge impact in helping Mark receive the treatment he needs to overcome this relentless disease. He has fought this battle for over 4 years now and is still determined to win.

We ask you for your support to allow Mark to continue his treatment at the Berkeley Institute in Mexico.

Please also keep him in your thoughts and prayers .

Thank You

Treatment Options in Germany

We have found another clinic in Germany that offers Dendritic Cell Therapy. The protocols between the Spanish and German centre differ slightly so we are currently seeking advice on which would be the better option.
Based on published data and experience at these centers dendritic cell therapy can be successful for many types of cancer even in advanced stages of the disease and this included complete remission, partial remission, stable disease or mixed responses.
Mark will remain on chemotherapy also & this treatment can be received along with it. We will continue to research and investigate other treatments available.

New Treatment Options

Help Us Make a Difference

Immunotherapy treatment called Dendritic Cell Therapy (DCT), which is not yet available in Ireland or the UK but we have found clinics in Spain and Germany that can offer treatment early next year. We will continue to search for any other treatments that could help Mark, in conjunction with standard chemotherapy.
These treatments come at a high cost but could give Mark a fighting chance at beating this relentless disease.

Change a Life

We never thought we would be in this situation and it's difficult to put pride aside and ask for help, but if you can, any donations would be greatly appreciated.
